What looks like night to us is the beginning of another’s day — endings and beginnings are always a matter of perspective.

Golden rays fracture through marbled skies, climbing over three silhouetted mountains — a view etched into me from countless sunsets in Rita Ranch and Sahuarita, right outside of Tucson where I grew up and where I now presently reside. This horizon is my home, my history, and my present — the line I’ve watched dissolve into color more times than I can count. A solitary saguaro anchors the foreground, while an owl glides across the sky, wings outstretched, carrying a message from beyond.

“The Owl’s Dawn” was not born in one stroke. At first, it felt unfinished, too close to Desert Ascension, too familiar until the owl arrived. Its presence shifted everything, turning the piece into a threshold between the known and the mysterious. Owls have always found me in the right moments, silent messengers from my guides, reminding me to trust what I can’t yet see.

This painting is for the soul standing at a crossroads — unsure if the light is rising or setting. May the owl remind you: what feels like an ending may be the very first light of your own dawn.
